In even the best of circumstances there is a painful and awkward dance between those pioneers who built an institution or a social fabric and the new wave that has fresh ideas and a drive to lead the group in new directions. Jesus discusses old and new wineskins in our lesson today.
If you are going to give pastoral care to others and help them get their lives on track you have to get comfortable talking about sin–theirs this time. We think sin is all exciting but that’s just the candy coating. After we swallow it we become a slave to it and it devastates our personal life, relationships, physical health, work success and wounds our family. Sin brings a destructive cycle that we have to break if we are going to become healthy.
